Parametric Milling Simulation

Okay so. As it turns out, extruding at random with the Grasshopper algorithm I currently have is a lot of work, and a simpler solution took all of maybe 5 minutes.

(I can't believe I wasted an hour trying to break Grasshopper so it would do what I wanted...)

Anyway, first order of business was to make a planar surface with the same bounds as the CNC bed measurements, then morphing it into something interesting.
One tutorial later, and I can somewhat muck around with it in the Cage Edit command and drag anchor points to dictate depth and height.

After using the Flow Along Surface command... success!

Rejigging dimensions to make sure the surface doesn't rise above 48mm...

Final render!

On to simulating tool paths, etc.

I'm assuming the red marks are where the "shoulders" of the spindle is hitting the material, so I'll have to compensate for that. A roughing pass to get rid of extra material should solve that problem.
