Collaboration Trainwreck: Electric Boogaloo

Boy oh boy. I sure love group projects.

Just kidding. Not fine.

Suffice it to say at this point I'm somewhat irritated. And by "somewhat" I mean "considerably". It's a lot like herding cats.

Unfortunately we can't seem to agree on a single concept to work towards. We've organized two brainstorming sessions (One of which I was unable to attend due to class crit), but in the meeting I was present for we narrowed it down to three ideas.

None of which that are apparently going to be followed through on. More on that later.

First, an "Umbrella Cupholder" attachment - the suggestion was that it can be difficult to do anything if trying to drink a coffee or something similar with an open top while also holding an umbrella handle. We'd thrown together a basic outline and ballpark estimate for materials needed.

Close, but not quite.
Our design was centered around a "mobile" sleeve that would stay upright regardless of what direction the umbrella handle itself moved. This would be accomplished by adding a washer or weight at the bottom of the sleeve itself, and setting up zero resistance (or as little resistance as possible) bearings where the sleeve connects to the handle.

Somewhat like this ^. Apparently someone beat us to the punch.

Second idea, a "Speedy Spliff" of some sort??? I'm not entirely clear on what the purpose is. It wasn't clearly defined exactly what materials we'd need or a general design to work with either...to be fair this meeting happened in the Gateway immediately prior to St. Paddy's day, so it was pretty damn loud.

Last idea: a "Chip Glove/ Picker Upper" sort of thing to keep your hands clean when eating chips so you don't smear grease everywhere when going to check your phone. Quick, easy, cheap materials. Basically a rubber glove with only a thumb + forefinger/middle finger and some sort of interior structure to keep the glove from sticking to the wearer.

All well and good, right?

I was recently notified that the design half of our group had decided we'd be making something entirely different as of monday/tuesday??? I don't even know what's going on at this point.

JUST. FRUSTRATION. SO MUCH. At this point I'm more or less ready to throw in the towel. The scheduling conflict is causing a lot of unnecessary stress between trying to keep on top of projects for finals and scrambling to figure out what in the sam hell the other half of the group is doing.
